The 4hr Show 2016

Sponsored by DG Custom Cycle and Lowbrow Customs, The 4hr Show is an afternoon dedicated to those who have a passion for custom and vintage motorcycles. This will be our third year putting on the event, bringing in bikes from all over Southern Ontario. Last year we had over 500 bikes show up to check out the live entertainment, have some drinks and see the pin up contest.

Sunday August 21st from 12-4pm
12105 Whittaker Road Springfield Ontario

Because of the great turnout, nearly 100 bikes of all categories taking part in our show ranging from choppers, baggers and cafe’s to vintage restorations, we will be running the Dirty Dozen again this year selecting 12 of the top bikes that our judges seem fit and rewarding them with a custom trophy.

Also this year we are excited to have Butch Haller return for the 3rd time. The old guy has been with us since the beginning and keeps on reclaiming his stolen hits. Also on the bill will be local band Ribbed For Your Pleasure. They are a great high energy band that rocks some awesome covers!

Currently we are working out some details with local talent Leigh. He’s best known for his skills in creating horror props through Sin Lab 13, but has recently got into throwing knives and has been recognized by some of the cultures greats. Really looking forward to seeing what Leigh brings to the show.

Freedom Machine Giveaway Bike Progress

Last Fall I was given the opportunity to build a custom bike to be given away at this years Freedom Machine Show and like the title of the show, I was allowed complete freedom of what I could do to this machine.

With the help of many other sponsors such as TC Brothers, Paughco, Curtwood Upholstery, ACP Customs, Metal Coaters, Lucas Oil and probably more (sorry if I haven’t mentioned you), this bike is sure to be a kick ass ride when it’s done.

While the frame is out getting powder coated black, here are a few photo’s I managed to throw together of the fabrication involved in build so far.

Fat 21″ Mammoth Spoke Wheels

If your thinking about upgrading the wheels on your bagger, these wheels are a popular choice to give your bike a custom look.

These 21″ large mammoth spoke wheels are 3.5″ wide and can act as a direct replacement without any modification although we do recommend that you lower the front end an inch to level out your ride.

As of the date of this post the wheels are $699.00 CAD. If you wish to purchase matching polished rotors, they are $159.00 each and the chrome colony hardware set is $20.00 per side.

Custom Harley 883 Iron Bobber

The owner of this 2015 883 Sportster Iron brought us this bike with a clear image in mind. He wanted to relocate the front signals, chop the rear fender and struts, and change up the seat.

For the front signals, we decided to go with a set of Custom Dynamics True Wrap LEDS. We’ve used them many times in the past and have been very satisfied with how much they blend in while still being one of the brightest options out there.

The seat is a Biltwell Sporty-8 Seat. It’s a great option for someone looking for a small solo seat that is a direct fit for your late model sporty (2010-2016).

The biggest modification done to this bike was the removal of the rear struts and shortening the rear fender. The stock tail light was then reused and the signals were mounted closer to the newly lowered shocks.

Open Road Design Canadian Engraver

While browsing Instagram one night I came across some wicked artwork that caught my eye. The pieces belonged to Ryan Hausmann who goes by @openroaddesign. As you can quickly recognize, he is a custom engraver that specializes mostly in chopper parts.

What caught my attention the most was his unique style. I’m no art critique but I’ve always had a thing for rough details. The work that Ryan does looks as if it was meant for the road and not just to be sitting behind a velvet rope.

Most of his craft is done out of his single bedroom apartment in Montreal Quebec. Even though he claims to be “shitty” at it, he loves painting and working with stained glass.

“I am a very shitty painter but I love doing it. Also, I used to do stained glass. I really miss that, all the color and textures. But only so much you can cram into a one bed room apartment and 24 hours.”

Mykie’s Shovel Build, Round 2

With work and family it’s sometimes hard for me to get out and enjoy what the custom motorcycle culture is all about. Hanging out with friends, sharing stories and turning wrenches. Sure it’s still a little early for riding season but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get in the car and head up to my friends shop to check out the progress on his latest chopper make over.

Like most builders, Mykie was lucky to get a full season out of his ride before his imagination finally took over and he started tearing his shovel chop apart.

I’m not really one to write about details about whats being done to the bike because if he is anything like me, as I’m writing this he’s probably changing his mind about something.

What I will say is that everything on this build has been done by Mykie in this garage. From narrowing his fat bob tanks to welding up a one of a kind sissy bar. His style is definitely unique which shows through both his bikes and tattoo work. His hands on approach has him constantly pushing his fabrication skills to a new level.

Freedom Machine Giveaway Bike

Incase you haven’t been following us on Facebook or Instagram, we’re excited to say we have been given the task of building the giveaway bike for this years Freedom Machine Motorcycle Show which just happens to be this 97 Harley Davidson Sportster.

Also taking part in the build is TC Bros. Choppers donating an awesome supply of parts including a Hard Tail Kit, Rear Fender, Bootlegger Bars, and more to be mentioned later.

We’ve installed our fair share of hardtail sections over the years and I can easily say that this sportster hardtail kit by TC Bros. is a quality product. If you check out the following pictures you can see that once the prep work was done, the new rear section fit like a glove.

Not only did everything fit together perfectly, the bike has a great stance to complement the style we are looking for. Next up we will be mounting the tins and oil tank so make sure to follow our Facebook page to stay up to date on the build.
